Da Vinci Montessori, Mumbai, in partnership with Montessori Sports, Netherlands, is delighted to present the Montessori Sports Fundamentals Course, an AMI certified course.
This blended course enables Montessori school leaders, educators including PE teachers to start their school journey with Montessori Sports. It provides the tools to seamlessly integrate sports into Montessori environments, across all age groups, enhancing a child’s holistic growth for all the four planes of development.

You will receive the following assignments to complete each chapter:

You can upload all these assignments on the Montessori Sports online course platform. Montessori Sports Trainer Jip Bartels will evaluate your assignments.
Your final assignment is a presentation of a sports activity to a group of children or an individual child.
Besides this, you have to write a paper in which you explain how the Montessori theory applies to that activity.

Certification Requirements
To obtain the Montessori Sports Fundamentals certificate all assignments will be checked and approved* by the Montessori Sports team.
After the final assignments are approved, the participant will receive the certificate by email.
Every year Montessori Sports has an in-person refresher in Bangalore, India whereby Alumni are invited to receive their hard-copy certificate by Jip Bartels, Co-Founder and Trainer of Montessori Sports.
*If the assignments are not approved, the participant needs to complete an alternative assignment that we will send by email

Who is Jip Bartels?
Jip Bartels is the Co-Founder & Trainer of Montessori Sports. He is a former professional player for the AFC Ajax youth academy and Dutch national youth teams. He brings over 20 years of experience as an athlete and youth coach to the programme. He holds a Bachelor for Organizational Science (Honors) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Amsterdam.
After developing and pioneering Montessori Sports Programmes in Australia, Jip has continued the global mission of Montessori Sports from his home in Amsterdam alongside colleagues Ruben Jongkind and Patrick Oudejans.
Jip holds the AMI 6-12 Montessori Orientation (2018), AMI Administration (2023) and AMI Core Principles (2024) certificates.
He is a social and disciplined man who believes that sports is a key to develop the human potential. The aim of Montessori Sports is to bring a student-centered approach to sports environments and to integrate sports into the core of child development.
What is the Montessori Sports Fundamentals Course?
The Montessori Sports Fundamentals Course is an AMI-certified blended learning program that teaches educators, coaches, parents, and school administrators how to integrate sports into Montessori environments across all four planes of development. The course combines 40 hours of self-paced online coursework with live Zoom sessions and concludes with an onsite practical exam in Mumbai.
How is the course structured?
This is a blended course format featuring self-paced online modules (57 videos, questionnaires, and assignments) combined with four live Zoom sessions scheduled between April and June 2026. The course culminates with a two-day onsite practical examination in Mumbai on September 12-13, 2026. You’ll complete assignments including questionnaires, video submissions of your own sports practice, observations, and a final presentation and paper.
What will I receive upon completion?
Upon successful completion of onsite exam or annual refresher in Mumbai, you will receive a hardcopy certificate.
